Actually, I can see them eventually getting to be friends, if they could ever somehow *both* get past all the layers of ideological conflict standing between them, something which is not too likely given the setup of the show.

I believe z@dder is going altogether too far with it.

Well, really, I guess it's all a matter of personal taste, and we all have the right to like or dislike it. It makes sense to me is all. Perhaps I've read too much anime fanfiction.

Friendship is and will ever be my first love with them, though. A prickly and shaky friendship I believe it would be, but a friendship. ^^

Jhonen hates it, about half the IZ fans hate it...how can ANYONE consider it possible, let alone CANON? I mean, if they support it, they must have seen something in the show to believe it.

But I do agree that less hate makes the world a better place. However, friendship doesn't automatically mean they have to love each other.

Maybe instead of "hate" it would've been better if I'd simply used the word "enemy."

We are indeed free to like whatever we want, but this is what puzzles me: if one removed the conflict between Dib and Zim what would remain of the original show?
